What is Project Based Learning (PBL)?
Project based learning is an exciting way for you to solve real world problems with what you are learning. If you have ever asked yourself "Why am I learning this?" this project should help you with an answer.
How does it work?
Project based learning lets you decide how you want to show your learning. A menu of options will be available for you to choose from. Each section has a few mandatory projects but, for the most part you are able to decide which projects you want to do. Prefer to do multiple little projects, there is an option for that. Would you rather concentrate on one big product, that's available too.
The three phases of this PBL are a s follows:
1. Research- Get some background information on your chosen impact.
2. Multimedia Public Service Announcement (PSA) Campaign- Raise awareness around the school and community about your issue,
3. Brinley Symposium- Display your work to parents, community members, and other students.

How am I scored?
Each phase of the PBL is worth points in both English and Science. Different activities are worth different amounts of points and there is a point threshold for each grade. Each phase of the PBL will use the following scale to determine your grade. Remember this is a mastery level activity, work that does not meet the requirements will be returned for improvement before points are awarded. Each menu option will have an associated rubric so you can make sure to turn in quality work.
To receive the specified letter grade you must successfully complete the following number of points.
A- 90 Points or More
B- 80 Points
C- 70 Points
